The FGA-Dirab Golf Club Riyadh traveled to Bahrain during the Haj holidays recently for the 2013 PSME GCC Golf Cup and had eight out of its 10 players winning a prize to dominate the 18-hole stroke play competition at the Royal Golf Club in Riffa.

The event attracted 25 players based in the GCC countries and was part of the 4th Middle East regional convention of the PSME with FGA President Resty Sibug as overall chair and Sammy P. Perez as sports chair.

But despite his busy schedule Resty managed to win, and along with son Christer Rem led the FGA-Dirab romp by claiming the Flight A and Low Gross titles respectively at 80 and 83.

Winning while both playing in one tournament is increasingly becoming a habit for Resty and Rem though this time the son upstaged the father with his higher prize.

Flight A first runner-up was FGA-Dirab’s Mar Vera Cruz on 81 with Tim Colarte of Rolling Hills Golf Club-Dhahran second runner-up on 82.

Most of the FGA-Dirab delegation played the highly demanding par-72 layout for the first time and yet the results suggested otherwise with Sonny Acance taking Low Net honors at 73 for his first major victory.

Allan Malawanda and Jun Bantug completed an FGA-Dirab sweep of the titles. Malawanda was the Flight B champion on 76 via the countback over Oscar Domingo who settled for first runner-up with Noel Alipoyo, a senior cameraman with OR Madarat, second runner-up on 79 in a 1-2-3 finish for FGA-Dirab.

Bantug whose son David Lloyd was also in the group posted a winning score of 79, the same total by Alex Garjo of WASGC-Uldhaliyah who settled for first runner-up prize after the countback , while Arnel Refuerzo of Whispering Sands Golf Club took second runner-up on 85.

The perfect/accurate drive award went to Domingo, nearest to pin plum to Jun Galindo of Ain Nakhl Golf Club, longest putt award to Perez of Ras Tanura Golf Club and Most Exercised golfer was Chris Perez of Ras Tanura Golf Club. FGA-Dirab's Ben Bollozos received a special prize as senior champion.

The awards ceremony took place after the event.
