A strong fourth quarter helped Fireberkz seize victory against Redtag 70-66 in the OFBL Bracket A Non Rated Division Friday Morning Games in the OFBL (Overseas Filipino Basketball League) 4th Conference at Timeout Sports Academy Stadium on Television St., Ghulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah last Friday.

Down by a point, Fireberkz launched a 10-0 run to have its first taste of the lead and gain the momentum, employing pressure and tough defense to build a 59-50 lead, a good cushion with 6 minutes left in the payoff period. Although Redtag managed to close the gap to just 3 points in the last 2 minutes of the game, Fireberkz remained strong to impede the enemy comeback attempt compensating on dominance of the boards of their big men.

The new kid in town, George Giducos, compensated his absence in the last Fireberkz losing game against top-ranked Marogong, as he proved unstoppable, attacking relentlessly Redtag’s defense inside the paint without fear, top-scoring for his team with 28 points, and was adjudged Jollibee Best Player of the game.

Jonel Cruz backed him up with 15 points, Beau Reyes added 8 points and Resty Ramirez had 6 points plus 10 big offensive rebounds. The tandem of Sandoval 24 points and Chua 16 points, led the losing team.

In the other Bracket A game, OBS staged a big second half comeback from 18 points down to snatch the game from Toyota 98-95. The trio of Historillo, Sipat and Yang , led the winning team with 20, 18 and 16 points respectively. Guererro netted 16 points while Mohammed and Arana each tallied 14 points for Toyota.

In a thrilling Bracket B Non Rated Division game, Roxonin hung on to pull off a 78-76 victory over Nesma. Abella spearheaded Roxonin with 21 points, followed by Timson who had 19 pints and Sumidlad with 16 points. Estrella, who had a team high 31 points, led Nesma’s losing cause.

The other Bracket B game was won in a one-sided result by Yummy Yummy against Aramex 67-33. Faurillo led Yummy offensively with 15 points.

Meanwhile, action continued in the OFBL Evening Division, with Pepsi thwarting the challenge by Compass for a 69-66 triumph in the Inter-Commercial Division.

Pepsi had a balanced offense with each and every player contributing their share, led by Gino Cilot 11 points, Carbonell and Destresa 10 points each and Dangao with 8 points. Selosin had 16 points and Julia 14 points for Compass.

In the Inter-Company Bonafide Division, Al Majdouie crushed STC 65-50. Punay scored 14 points and Suarez had 13 points for the winning team.

The other game in the division went ot Bahra Cables, an easy 75-69 winner over last Thursday. Andales spearheaded the winning team with 20 points, while Sipat had 23 points for KFNB

Nahdi Parmacy deafeated Pariot in Inter-Company Non-Rated division 52-43 . Abdul Hammid with 16 points led Nahdi Parma to its second win.

Petromin Express defeated KAMC 73-68 in the Inter-Company Reinforced Division. Padernal had a stellar night with 22 points for the winning team. Melencio had 21 points including 5 triples for KAMC.

Also, Compass dominated FJ Cruiser in the Above 4 Division in a 76-58 victory.
