JEDDAH: Last Saturday, Jeddah RC Club held its 2nd Fun Fly Activity, emphasizing safety awareness being implemented in the club in the conduct of this RC air sport, and to celebrate its affiliation to the Saudi Airsports Federation.

The event was graced by Prince Turki bin Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, chairman of Saudi Air Sports Federation. The prince congratulated all the members of Jeddah RC Club for bringing air sports awareness safety to the hobby of flying craft and other remote controlled machines.

Jeddah RC Club is primarily in remote control flying craft like huge acrobatic planes, helicopters and jets as well as foam boards aircrafts, personal crafted and hand made by creative members of the team.

Jeddah RC Club is composed not only of Saudi nationals and Arabs but also other nationalities who share the same passion of the RC sport like Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans and the creative team of the JERKS Filipino RC Group.

The event started with safety rules and regulation reminders to all flyers done by the safety officers to avoid injuries. The flight of the huge acrobatic planes then followed showcasing spectacular moves like Inverted Flight, Knife Edge, Flat Spin Roll, Cuban 8 and many others.

Also, giant jets flew in a steady smoke filled low flyby keeping the scene amazing by its sheer sound. The helicopters also showed their 3D acrobatic flying skills making the helicopter fly like crazy.

Also during the event, the foamy jet flyers made their flights with the catch the balloon contest, where in a long string of paper is attached to another airplane with a balloon on the end of the strip. Each foam jet fighters will try to pop the balloon mid air or just cut the strings.

At least 8 foam jets fighters were screaming in the air trying to catch the balloon, eliciting cheers each time foam jets came close to the balloon. And finally, the Red Euro Fighter personally hand made by RC Captain Ogie Nucum, piloted by RC Capt. Saeed successfully cut the string through a deep nose dive coming from the top, ending the contest.

Also present in the event are members of Bike Club and Kulay Photograpers Group, as well as several spectators who enjoyed the event.

Jeddah RC club is open to all who wished to join and get into this RC flying hobby. Open 7 days a week flying is normally done weekends in early morning or late in the afternoon. Jeddah RC Club is located 14kilometers from the Brihman bridge on Haramain Road.
