JEDDAH: Season 2014 of the OFBC drew to a close just before the year ended with the Bowler of the Year 2014 finals at the Iceland Bowling Center and a fitting awards night for the morning and afternoon leagues.

The ones left standing among the winners during the monthly tournaments and qualifiers from the wildcard phase were Arman Gamboa and Delia Javing, who were crowned the men's and ladies Bowler of the Year 2014 champions.

Gamboa went all the way. After leading when the field was cut to the 12 semifinalists, Gamboa was not done yet claiming the top position out of the six that qualified for the three-game sudden death for the final positioning.

Class C bowler Gamboa carded a winning total with handicap of 569 to pull clear of another Class C Cesar Pagtalunan, who settled for first runner-up on 558. Class D Ric Nangel finished a pin back on second runner-up at 557, with Class C Bash Langa third runner-up on 535. Vic Gonzales and Lexter Atienza rounded out the first six winners on 498 and 495 respectively.

The ladies division BOY race turned out a disappointment for Kristhea Mae Busico and pleasant surprise for Javing.

Seeded into the final as the winner of four monthly tournaments, three of them consecutively, Busico virtually lost her way during the biggest of battles as she finished sixth place on 446.

For Javing the result couldn't have been better. In fourth place after the first cut to 12, Javing was third among the six lady finalists then poured it on in the championship with a 564, blowing by Christine Stone who returned 529 at first runner-up.

The second runner-up position went to Carmen Duma on 520, while Carms Lim was third runner-up on 490 and Farida de Guzman fourth runner-up on 452.

The champions both received cash prize and certificate while the runners-up took home cash prizes.

The Overseas Filipino Bowling Club annual get-together cum awards night followed the concluding tournament for the season at a local restaurant. Zikato Construction through Operations Manager Cesar Zuniga donated the major raffle draw prize of 32-inch LED television set won by Yeth Sioha Achai. Also, Orient Provision Trading Co. through Brand Manager Roberto Bato donated 4 packs of 5kg. bag of Makati Foods rice for raffle prizes.

The next season -- OFBC Friday Morning Bowling League Season 4 and OFBC Friday Afternoon Bowling League Season 5 -- is tentatively set to start Jan. 9.
