ATLANTA: Jeff Teague scored 19 points and the Hawks remained perfect in the preseason, beating the San Antonio Spurs 100-86 Wednesday night in Atlanta’s first home game since the Eastern Conference final.

The Hawks (3-0) took control with an 11-0 spurt late in the third quarter, handing the winless Spurs their third straight defeat.

Spurs: F LaMarcus Aldridge (back spasms) did not play. Matt Bonner started in his place. ... Kawhi Leonard scored a game-high 20 points.

Hawks: F Thabo Sefolosha played his first game since April, when his right leg was broken in an encounter with New York police. He had 5 points in 8 minutes.

Star watch: Thirty-nine-year Tim Duncan played only 13 minutes for the Spurs, scoring 4 points. He didn’t return after halftime.

Up next: The Spurs are back home Sunday to host the Detroit Pistons. The Hawks travel to Dallas to face the Mavericks on Friday.

Dieng leads Wolves over Raptors

In Ottawa, Ontario, Gorgui Dieng scored 14 and Tayshaun Prince had 13 to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to their first win of the preseason, coming from behind to beat the Toronto Raptors 89-87 on Wednesday night.

Wolves: Three others scored in double digits. Karl-Anthony Towns and Tyus Jones each had 12 and Andrew Wiggins had 11.

Raptors: James Johnson and Delon Wright each scored 11 points and newly acquired former No. 1 draft pick Anthony Bennett had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Canada tour: The teams played at the Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa, Ontario, as part of the fourth annual NBA Canada Series.

Former star watch: Former member of the Raptors and Timberwolves Chauncey Billups was on hand for the game and given an Ottawa Senators jersey.

Up next: The final stop for the NBA Canada Series is in Montreal on Friday night as the Raptors (3-2) take on the Washington Wizards. The Wolves play at the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

Celtics beat Nets

In New York, Amir Johnson scored 19 points, Isaiah Thomas had 17 and nine assists, and the Boston Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets 109-105 on Wednesday night.

Evan Turner finished with 10 points, seven assists and five rebounds in his first action of the preseason. The Celtics played their first game in the US and against an NBA team after opening exhibition play with two victories in Europe.

Thaddeus Young had 19 points and eight rebounds for Brooklyn.

Celtics: Jae Crowder, Kelly Olynyk and rookie R.J. Hunter finished with 11 points apiece.

NETS: Shane Larkin got the start at point guard and scored 10 points. Brook Lopez scored 12 but took just six shots.

Jack’s hack: Point guard Jarrett Jack was ejected in the second quarter for a flagrant foul. He turned the ball over, then raced back to throw his shoulder into Jonas Jerebko to prevent a fast-break basket.

Smart sick: Coach Brad Stevens said second-year guard Marcus Smart has strep throat and probably wouldn’t be available for the Celtics’ game at the Knicks on Friday.
