Over 100 turned out for the first Riyadh Triathletes event of the season. Twenty-three different nationalities were represented; including 82 adults and 10 children between the ages of 7 and 72.

Also, record number of 18 Saudis took part in the first event, a biathlon (350m swim followed by a 3km run), in perfect conditions at Ishbilia Compound.

Ken Heney 1st male (current Club Champion in 17mins 03 secs) and Naomi Gordon 1st female (22mins 13 secs) were the overall winners. It was a fantastic win for Naomi in her first ever Riyadh Triathletes event.

Fastest split times for the swim and run went to Luca Giorgini (4mins 22 secs) and Ken Heney (11mins 19 secs) respectively. First Junior Girls was Harriet Townhill with a very respectable time of 24mins 19 secs – a fantastic start to the season. The first male junior was Vinnie Gillespie (29mins 35secs). Other age group winners included; David Townhill (Male Vet), Edoardo Lando (Male Master), Mia McDowell (female vet and first Riyadh Triathletes event – well done), Luigi Lando (Male senior), Ayesha Ismail (female senior).

Among newcomers with inspirational performances was Rob Bricker who may have looked like he was about to drown in his first ever biathlon , but made it to the end.

The season runs on most weekends until RT’s final event on Oct. 2 and includes three types of race; biathlon (swim-run), duathlon (run-bike-run) and the full event of triathlon (swim-bike-run).
