Ken Heney and the team of Jean Pierre and Thierry took the honors on arguably the toughest race in the Riyadh Triathletes calendar. A 10k run, 40k bike and 5k run combined with a very hot Riyadh sun made for a real challenge for the 39 people who entered the race.

Ken Heney was fastest on the 10k run with an impressive time of 40:58 giving him a lead of 2:38 over Ben Psaila and 4:34 over junior champion Cameron Ball.

A short transition led to the 40k bike ride which was Riyadh Wheelers club champion Thierry Mathy’s territory. Mathy overturned their team deficit of 4:35 with a very quick 40k time of 1:01:18 (39.1kph). Maintaining his excellent form, Heney was second fastest with a time of 1:05:53 (36.4 kph). Third fastest was current club champion Martin Ball.

The final 5k run was owned by Heney with a time of 23:03, a very good time with the heat and distance already covered. Total race time for the win was 2:12:03. The team winners were Jean Pierre and Thierry with a race time of 2:11:12 (with no transition 2 time).

Other category winners were Martin Ball (M-Veteran), Paul McParland (M-Senior), Eduardo Landa (M-Master), Katerina Holeckova (F-Open) and Paul McParland Jr (M-Junior), who received beset wishes from the club after his summer with RT.

Also, Riyadh Triathletes would like to wish Katy Taylor the best of luck in her first Ironman on one of the toughest Ironman courses at Tenby, Wales.

The Olympic distance season finale triathlon (1500m swim, 40k Bike, 10k Run) is confirmed for Sept. 19. Email RT at [email protected] for more details. Deadline of registration is Sept. 13.

Airbus Defense and Space, Carrefour @5 the mall sponsored the event.
