NEW YORK: New York’s Mats Zuccarello scored a hat trick to lead the Rangers to a 3-1 win over Toronto in Friday’s clash of two big-market teams that have started the season in contrasting style.

The Rangers are top of the NHL’s Metropolitan Division while Toronto is last in the Atlantic Division.

Montreal’s Dale Wiese also had a hat trick as the Canadiens beat Calgary, while Carolina edged Colorado and Buffalo downed Philadelphia.

Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves and the hosts looked sharp after four days of rest.

Jack Eichel and Nicolas Deslauriers also scored for Buffalo while rookie goalie Linus Ullmark made 27 saves to notch his first NHL win.

Mark Streit spoiled Ullmark’s shutout bid with 3:26 left, but the Flyers have lost three straight.

Washington’s Justin Williams and T.J. Oshie each scored to lift the Capitals over Columbus 2-1.

Williams gave Washington the lead at 14:16 in the second. After the Capitals killed two penalties, Oshie’s fourth goal of the season made it 2-0 at 11:59 in the third.
