RIYADH: MoneyGram has brought the ICC World Twenty20 Trophy into the Kingdom for the fans to see. The trophy was displayed at the Alseif and BACS camps in Riyadh on Friday.
The presentation is part of MoneyGram’s ongoing support for cricket in the Kingdom. Over the last three years, the company sponsored “Cricket Ke Badshah” tournament.
For the first time ever, MoneyGram and cricket legend Irfan Pathan brought the trophy into expat camps in the Kingdom and held competitions and promotions to offer fans an opportunity to have dinner with the legend and take photos with the trophy.
MoneyGram will also be announcing a new grassroots initiative in the coming months for Saudi Arabia which will signal its intent to developing the game further.
“Bringing ICC assets and developing grassroots cricket support across the globe has allowed MoneyGram to leverage its commercial agreement with the International Cricket Council in Saudi Arabia,” said Maher Haddad, MoneyGram’s senior regional director of Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan. “It is important to roll out initiatives that give back to the fans of the game, which is why MoneyGram continues to invest in taking the trophy to various cities. Such initiatives leave a lasting cricketing legacy in places such as the expat camps where the passion for cricket is strong. It is also our honor to be able to bring legends of the game of cricket to the region and take them into such camps so that people can meet their heroes.”
MoneyGram has signed a new eight-year contract as an official partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is widely renowned for its support of cricket all over the world. Notably, MoneyGram is the only ICC sponsor to activate cricket in Saudi Arabia and provide support for cricket across the Kingdom.
