NEW DELHI: India were 231-7 at stumps on the opening day of the fourth and final Test against South Africa at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi.

Ajinkya Rahane was batting on 89 with Ravichandran Ashwin unbeaten on six when umpires called an end to play, with six overs remaining, due to bad light.

Dane Piedt was the most successful bowler for the visitors, picking up four wickets for 101 runs.

India have already won the series, after taking an unassailable lead with decisive victories in the first and third Tests in Mohali and Nagpur.

The second Test in Bangalore was washed out after the first day’s play.
