RIYADH: Unbeaten InterCon led the semifinalists, completing an 8-game sweep of the eliminations with a 75-62 victory over Riyadh Marriott in the 28th Annual Riyadh Inter-Hotels Basketball tournament 2015.

Joining InterCon (8-0) in the round of four were Ritz Carlton 7-1, Al Faisaliah 6-2 and Kempinski 4-4. This tournament is sponsored by Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers with the generous support of GM Gerald Chevasson and hosted by Riyadh InterContinental Hotel.

Kempinski and Marriott tied at 4-4 but Kempinski went through to the semis by virtue of the winner-over-the-other rule having beaten Marriott 64-59 on the last week of eliminations.

Novotel followed its ever first-ever win in the tournament the previous week by beating Four Seasons 56-51.

In a display of sportsmanship, Four Seasons appeared in their last match against Kempinski who were caught unawares of Four Seasons’ surprising offense built around former SPIS Varsity Player Jaypee Mabutas, who scored a game-high 21 points, center Paul Marigsa, Dexter Laderas, Nover Obrar and Gigi Regala.

Marriott finally lost its hopes for a place in the semis after losing against Ritz Carlton 71-57.

Ritz Carlton completed its 8-game schedule with a victory against Novotel 64-74 while Al Faisaliah hurdled its final assignment in Courtyard Marriott 81-82.

Start of the semifinal rounds will be on Wednesday, with Ritz Carlton against Kempinski at 7:00 p.m. and InterCon versus Al Faislaia at 9 p.m.
