The Saudi Badminton Committee and Expatriate Badminton Association (EBASA) in collaboration with Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu are to organize an Invitational international Badminton tournament at Al Huwailat Club, Jubail on May 27-28.
The president of EBASA,George PuthenMadho, and the Saudi Badminton Committee representative Olyan Al Harbi along with the members of EBASA were present at a meeting held in Al Khobar recently with Media Forum. International players from India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Indonesia and Sri Lanka are taking part in this tournament in singles and doubles in separate group. Fifteen international players and three Asian Badminton Confederation officials have confirmed their availability with EBASA.
Over 500 players who form an important cross section of the community are expected to participate in eight levels of the game from novices to Premier Level. The players are of different nationalities like Saudi, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippine, Malaysia, US, Canada and Bahrain. A professional group comprising international referees and umpires will supervise the technical operation of the event.
The Saudi national junior team along with the national coach Ammar Awad is also taking part in this tournament along with players of other nationalities.
All international players are BWF world ranked and top seeded in their respective countries. Prize money is offered to the winners in addition to all the expenses of the international players. Saudi Badminton Committee has taken the lead in getting the International players.
The tournament invitation and entry form will be sent to all badminton clubs in the Country.
