JEDDAH: The Jeddah Cricket Association recently held its general body meeting for the year 2014-15, which was attended by 27 of the 31 clubs registered. Chief Executive Officer, Muhammad Iqbal, welcomed Vice Chairman Humayun Farooq, Director Sameer Nidal Khan, President Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Vice President Hamid Rana and club representatives. Chairman Dr. Faiz Al Abideen was out of town.

Iqbal thanked the sponsors for their continued support and member clubs for their participation in a disciplined,

competitive atmosphere and finally the executive committee for their efforts to organize various cricketing activities through the season. He also welcomed Sameer Nidal Khan who has joined JCA as director, Hamid Rana as vice president and the Hala Cricket Academy, which has been of immense help in conducting training camps and practice sessions for cricketers that has gone a long way in sharpening their skills.

The new executive committee comprised of 11 members and were unanimously elected unopposed. The following committees were formed: Public Relation Committee, Sponsorship, Tournament, Ground Maintenance, Functions, Statistics, Press & Media and Umpiring.

Executive committee members: Muhammad Iqbal (CEO), Aijaz Ahmed Khan (President), Hamid Rana (Vice President); Haroon Abdullah, Executive Secretary (Admin & Finance); Azizullah Shareef (Technical Secretary), Syed Ashfaque Hussain (Joint Executive Secretary); Arif Hashmy, Syed Meer, Riaz Afridi and Ata Ur Rehman.

Asaduddin Owaisi Cup

Fifty clubs will take part in the Asaduddin Owaisi Cup cricket tournament, the launching of which will be held today (Friday) at the Hala Cricket Academy. The league-cum-knockout tournament will take-off on the first Friday of 2016 and will continue for 12 weeks.

Dream India Group, Mumtaz Sports Academy and Al Wafaq Al Shaheqa Group are the official sponsors for this event. Hala Cricket Academy, B-Cola, Halwani Brothers, Khind Electronics and Kako are the co-sponsors and organized by the Jeddah Premier League under the umbrella of Jeddah Cricket Association.

Ahmeduddin Owaisi will be the chief guest, senior journalist in Saudi Arabia Khaled Almaeena, Abdul Aziz of Etemaad Urdu Daily, Hyderabad, Sameer Nidal Khan and Ibrahim Al Othaibi will be the guests of honor besides other prominent guests from Riyadh and Jeddah are expected to attend the ceremony.
