JEDDAH: In glittering ceremony the Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi Cricket Cup was launched over the weekend at Hala Cricket Academy Jeddah organized jointly by Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) and Jeddah Premier League (JPL).

Chief guest on the occasion was Ahmeduddin Owaisi, president Bazm-E-Ittehad. Among VIP guests were prominent journalist and keen supporter of cricket in the Kingdom, Ustad Khaled Almaeena, Joint Editor Etemaad Daily Hyderabad Aziz Ahmed, a prominent Saudi Ibrahim Al Othaibi, Director JCA and Hala Cricket Academy’s Sameer Nidal Khan.

Ffith participating teams, the heads of the different segments of Indian NGO’s of Jeddah & Riyadh from different parts of India were present in this historic grand event expected to make an impact on the young generation in the country.

A grand drill and guard of honor given to the chief guest and the guests of honor by the 50 participating teams took place before the program started.

In his welcome address JCA President Aijaz Ahmed Khan said the distinctive launch of Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi Cricket Cup will herald a new era in the game.

Khan said: “The crazy game of cricketing within the subcontinent has crossed all its boundaries and now stands as a prime sporting event with JPL-JCA being in the forefront to popularize the so-called gentleman’s game

Khan, a keen supporter of Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi and his leadership, was all praise for family of Owaisi who have given their support to the community and he thanked Ahmeduddin for supporting and encouraging to organize this prestigious tournament featuring a large number of Indian youth in this part of the world in a healthy activity.

Khan thanked the Hala Cricket Academy management for providing their space to launch this historic event, particularly Sameer Nidal Khan, and Hamid Rana, vice president JCA, for their support. He also thanked the local and international media and cited as well the JPL President Syed Hashmath Ullah Husseini, Vice President Syed Mukarram, his team of office bearers and volunteers, JCA committee, Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig, Syed Azeez and Abdul Jabbar. Khan also thanked the sponsors represented by Mohammed Rafeeq of Mumtaz Group of Companies, Syed Sameer Ishaq of Dream India and Syed Moazam Ali of Al Wafaq Al Shaheqa Group.

The function started with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur’an by Qari Noor Sahab. The moderator of the program was the young dynamic Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig.
