JEDDAH: Jeddah All Stars beat Tau Gamma Phi in a tight game even as BMG brought down Aljuf Toyota in a battle of the unbeaten entering the two-month mark of eliminations in the 2nd Orient Watch Cup and 13th Filsama Basketball League at Rawdah court on Madinah Road here.
Villanueva scored 20 points while Allan Rey and Esteves added 19 and 17 points respectively as the All Stars edged Tau Gamma 91-90.
It was the second win in three games for the All Stars in the Open Non Rated Division in the tournament exclusively sponsored by the Orient Watch brand under the Al-Hussaini and Al-Yahya Investment Group.
Macalaba top-scored for Tau Gamma with 21 points. Sanchez and Macapundi each had 17 points.
BMG broke free from a close game with Jimmy Abdullah Beltran’s Aljuf squad in the fourth quarter for an 87-82 victory in the Open Non Rated Strong Division.
It was the fourth straight win for BMG while Aljuf went down to its first loss in four games.
Butch Maulana led the BMG scorers on 19 points while Kali contributed 12 and Manalang tossed in 11 points.
Gino Cilot shot a game-high 22 points at the helm of Aljuf which also drew 13 points each from Paul Taguba and Fadi Tawil and 12 from Montano dela Cruz.
In another Open Non Rated game, veteran Diego Domalogdog scored 31 points to lead SMDC to a 79-76 victory over Jeddah Brothers.
Eborda and Torros supported Domalogdog with 17 and 16 points at SMDC. Pepito led Jeddah Brothers with 27 points to go with the 14 points each from Fhai and Catatuan.
