Kabalen-Al Murjana notched a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double in another remarkable display during the 14th session in the OSN-FTBJ 49th Open Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

It was the third team honors for Murjana, the most of any team, in a tie with MC Hammer, as it returned the week’s highest total of 41 points ahead of the Red Dragons who compiled 39.

Taurus-Amigos were two points further back on 37 followed by MC Hammer 33, Bowling City 22, Bank AlJazira Fawri 30 and AFM-Moe 26.5.

Sky Freight-OSN, Habagat and Romblon Marvels filled the last three spots on 26.5, 22.5 and 14 points in that order.

Winner during the 7th and 11th weeks, Murjana captained by Rene Ocampo again claimed just reward for playing a level above everyone else with Jay Bengco making it all the sweeter.

Bengco shot the high series of 718 on scratch games of 256, 205 and 212 to become the Bowler of the Week.

Jojie Manalansan and Mhon Laxamana did good backup to Bengco with rounds of 623 and 608, while Edwin Ronquillo tallied 594. Regie Mendoza carded 164-161 and Jayson Castillo had 147 to round out the Murjana scoring.

Jack Jarin and Cesar Pagtalunan presided the Red Dragons charge on 635 and 624 with Tom Langa on 574 as the other player to go three games. Bash Langa added 179-213, Jurmain Juripae 213-171 and Ally Bin 151-143.

Over at Taurus-Amigos the quartet of Mohd. Najeem, Bandar Al Dosary, Alex Flora and Ed Botardo poured in full games of 631, 617, 578 and 559. Nap Patayan contributed 237-188 and Joel Nidoy made 190.

For previous week honoree MC Hammer Melvin Lising and Richard Junio led a four-man rotation on 675 and 661 and that also included Zaldy Bacero 588, Dylan Ilagan 565, and Rene Punzalan 487.

Bowling City had Gerry Mandanas shooting the top score of 607 to go with the 589 by Maji Aslani, 559 by Dan Ednave, 212-167 by Igna Salgado, 164-167 by Frank Afurong and 224-236 by Mohd. Amri.

Meantime, Richard Junio was crowned the FTBL Bowler of the Month for January with Frank Afurong as 1st runner-up.

Also, the long delayed FTBJ-ICBL 34th Conference bowling tournament resumes Friday with the semifinals that will pick the four teams to join outright finalists JP Gilas, Purefoods Hotdog and Alliance in Global Motion at the Bowling City.
