JEDDAH: Karamat hit an unbeaten 128 off 57 balls and including 15 fours and seven sixes in a stellar performance as he led ECU Lines to a massive 94 runs win over Hyderabad Green while an all-round performance by Humayoon Farooq of Saudi Oil (59 runs, 3-20) helped Saudi Oil beat ARM United by 46 runs in the opening week matches of Kanoo Premier League at the weekend.
Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo sponsored the tournament under the auspices of Jeddah Cricket Association. In the other matches, Jamoom Tigers thrashed Al-Burj by eight wickets while Ittihad inflicted a massive defeat on Jamoom Fighters by 81 runs.
ECU Lines reached a respectable total of 186 for three in their allotted overs mainly due to a superb unbeaten 128 runs by Karamat, who tore the bowlers apart with exquisitely timed 15 fours and seven sixes against the hapless Hyderabad Green, bundled out for a paltry 92 runs.
Saudi Oil’s win by 46 runs over ARM United was built around a fine all-round performance by skipper Farooq who first scored a stylish 59 runs and then went on to take three wickets for 20 runs. Jamoom Tiger raced to a eight wickets win over Al-Burj bundling them out for 125 runs with their bowlers Amir (three for 37), Saeed (two for 22) and Saeed Ali (two for 16) making batting difficult for them and later their batsmen had little difficulty in chasing 129 for two wickets.
Ittihad’s impressive 81 runs win was led by a stylish 73 by Usman which enabled his team to reach 165 for four and then bundled out Jamoom Fighters for 84 runs.
