JEDDAH: KAUST (King Abdullah University Science and Technology) won the ICD 3rd Annual Football Tournament, beating host team ICD (Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector) Sunday at the Greenlawns ground on Kilo 5 near Jeddah.
Both teams were deserving finalists having topped their respective groups but KAUST was simply the better on the day, scoring a 2-0 victory in the final match.
Rodrigo Lopez tallied the goals for KAUST, finding the net in each half. Lopez also scored the first goal in their team’s 6-1 win over Anfaal Capital in the semifinal.
ICD defeated Ewaan 4-0 in the other semifinal in the tournament that began with eight teams, four each in Group A and Group B.
