JEDDAH: Saudi Star Drift Championship kicked off its 1st round for 2015 season recently with large presence of motor sport enthusiasts gathered at King Abdullah Park at Alshoaba in Al Ahsaa province. Out of 45 participants 38 racers passed the technical tests and were qualified to participate in the 1st round.

Former Saudi rally ace Abdullah Bakhashab, organizer of the championship, expressed his thanks to all concerned public and privates parties in Al Ahsaa province, for their great and considerable efforts to ensure the success of the event.

The competition was fierce in the equipped and modified vehicles category for professional drivers, where Khalid Al Zaid emerged winner and thus qualified for the final round of the championship to be held in Jeddah in December. Meanwhile, Abdulaziz Bamaus easily won the Advance category to also was qualified for the final round.

Al Zaid expressed his happiness for this winning and assured his readiness for the final round.

The 2nd round of Saudi Drifting Star Championship will take place Oct. 9 at Alkhobar Corniche in front of Fouad Center.

First three overall standings:

1. Khalid Abdullah Alzaid (first place)

2. Salman Mahmoud (second place)

3. Mohammed Alorabi (third place)
