JEDDAH: Khalidia Tambayz coached by Ronnie Cariño beat Avengers 109-91 in the 2nd PEAK-JBL Basketball Tournament at Al Baik basketball court here in Khalidia District here.

Avengers tried hard to sustain their defense in the final quarter but Khalidia Tambayz’s outside snipping was unstoppable. Garcia scored 36 points for Tambayz and was adjudged as the PEAK Sodas Sports best player of the game while Geniza chipped in 25 points for Avengers.

Knights of coach Ernel Paner defeated Tropang Bakhs 86-81. Knights went to the open man for their offense in the fourth quarter as Tropang Bakhs almost won the game using their patented three points shooting. Knights’ short jumper connected as the final buzzer had sounded. Cariño and Gonzales had 19 and 18 points respectably but Gonzales was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game with his end game heroics. Encabo top-scores with 17 points for Tropang Bakhs.

In the 40 and above category, Manila Hotdog of Loue Ghazi beat Gensoul 87-81 in overtime. It was a ding-dong battle between the 2 ball clubs up to the last seconds of the game. Gensoul had the chance to win but a sorry miss from the free-throw line sent the game into overtime. Manila Hotdog went to inside game as Gensoul started to feel exhausted and missed important baskets. Ghazi, a Syrian businessman married to a Filipino, led Manila Hotdog with 27 points and was adjudged as the PEAK Sodas Sports best player of the game while Vilano top-scored with 23 points for Gensoul.

In Friday games, Magma Bloods defeated Ikea 89-52. Magma Bloods running game put Ikea flat footed in the whole game. Lance Adrian had 26 points and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Lapata and Bueta scored 11 points apiece for Ikea.

STC of coach Randy Tuazon brought down NRF 82-79. STC displayed heart in the dying seconds of the game as NRF continue to attack the enemy defense. NRF missed their final offense and STC got the rebound and went for a quick jumper, the ball bounced off the rim and went in for their first win. Togonon contributed 22 points for STC and was adjudged as the PEAK Sodas Sports best player of the game while Pugoy had 28 points for NRF.

Desert Warriors of coach Nestor Capinpin beat Khalidia Knights 97-73. Desert Warriors’ outside shots proved the main factor of their offense. Khalidia Knights defense collapsed in the final period. Birthday boy Zamora top-scored with 22 points for Desert Warriors and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Batalon led Khalidia Knights with 22 points.
