The first round of King of The Strip Championship for drag race organized by Dirab Club team members takes place Thursday and Friday at Dirab Motor Park on the outskirts of Riyadh in one of the biggest gatherings of motor sport enthusiasts from all over the Kingdom.

King of The Strip comprises three rounds and the classes were designed carefully in order to open the way for more youths to experience the thrill of speed in a safe environment where basic safety elements exist, giving them the opportunity to develop their driving skills.

The championship will feature new classes open for the first time in GCC targeting street and racing cars at the same time such as Stock class (factory settings), Super Stoke Class (One power adder to the engine ) and the Open Class (more than a power adder). In parallel with the championship, Saudi 911 Club will organize a big festival for modified and dancing cars, remote control cars and skate on Friday at 4 p.m.

Captain Muhammed Felemban expressed his delight at participating in this championship, saying: “There is a huge number of Saudi youths who are very passionate about drag racing and they do have the potential and talents. However, the absence of organized and safe parks in the past was the barrier to the development of this sport. Yet, today with the advent of motor parks in Saudi Arabia, there is no reason for any person to race on the street again.”

For his part, Sakher Al-Sudairy, general manager of Dirab Park, emphasized the importance Dirab management is giving to this championship due to the many benefits for motor sport and Saudi youths starting with awareness of public road safety rules.

“Safety then safety and safety is our first and paramount reason to create these racing models and the subsequent development of the motor sport comes next. Moreover, there are many programs and activities to be provided by the park this season to serve this goal,” Al-Sudairy said.
