UNIONDALE: Tyler Toffoli deflected in the winning goal with 1:27 left for the Los Angeles Kings, who scored three times in the third period to stun the New York Islanders 3-2 Thursday night.

Toffoli tipped in Jake Muzzin’s drive past surprised goalie Kevin Poulin to cap the comeback. Tanner Pearson had tied it 2-2 with 7:45 left with a power-play goal in his first NHL regular-season game. Slava Voynov started the turnaround for the Kings at 5:34 of the third.

That made a winner of backup Ben Scrivens, who made 23 saves in place of regular Jonathan Quick, who strained his groin during overtime of the Kings’ shootout loss at Buffalo on Tuesday.

Aaron Ness gave the Islanders a 2-0 lead in the second period with his first NHL goal after Casey Cizikas put New York in front with his first of the season. Bruins 3, Blue Jackets 2: Milan Lucic stole the game for the Bruins as the left winger blocked a Cam Atkinson shot near his own goal and scored on a breakaway with 48.6 seconds left to give Boston their fourth straight victory, a 3-2 decision over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Lucic beat Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky between the pads for his eighth goal of the season, allowing the Bruins to finish off a 4-0-1 homestand.

The Blue Jackets played well but lost for the seventh time in their last eight games, the last two in overtime.

Lightning 5, Ducks 1: Lightning center Valtterri Filppula scored two goals as Tampa Bay remained perfect against the Western Conference with a 5-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

The Lightning are now 7-0-0 on the season against the west. Right winger Martin St. Louis added a goal and two assists for the Lightning (14-5-0).

Anaheim (15-5-1) came into Thursday’s game with the best record in the league but the Ducks were bottled up by the Lightning defense.

Blues 7, Avalanche 3: The St. Louis Blues powered to a 7-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.

The Blues (12-2-3) set a franchise record by winning for the 12th time in their first 17 games.

Center Derek Roy scored the first of three power-play goals by the Blues en route to victory.

The loss marked the first time this season the Avalanche (14-4-0) lost consecutive games.

Blackhawks 5, Coyotes 4 (SO): Chicago rookie center Brandon Pirri scored the game-winner in the shootout as the Blackhawks defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 5-4.

It was Pirri’s night in more ways than one. He started on the opening front line, scored the game-tying goal in the third period and then the game-winner for Chicago’s first win at home against the Coyotes since a 4-3 shootout win Feb. 27, 2011

The Blackhawks (13-2-4) have now won their last four games and six of their last seven. Phoenix (13-4-3) saw its two-game winning streak end, but the Coyotes are still 8-2-1 in their last 11 games and winners in nine of their last 12.

Stars 7, Flames 3: It was the Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin show at the Scotiabank Saddledome as Benn had a six-point night and Seguin celebrated his first hat-trick as a member of the Dallas Stars, and then scored a fourth goal, as the squad from the Lone Star State rolled to a 7-3 rout of the Calgary Flames.

With the lopsided result, the Stars (10-7-2) extended their road winning streak to five games.

Center Matt Stajan was the lone bright spot for the Flames (6-10-3), scoring twice, while winger David Jones also added a goal.

Sharks 2, Canucks 1 (OT): Defenseman Dan Boyle scored a power-play goal at 2:38 in overtime to lift the San Jose Sharks to a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Canucks captain Henrik Sedin was in the penalty box for hooking.

Sharks rookie center Tomas Hertl, forced overtime when his 11th goal of the season tied the game at 1-1 at 18:55 of the third period.
