DENVER: Defensemen Hampus Lindholm and Cam Fowler scored their first goals of the season 1:44 apart in the second period, and emergency starter Jason LaBarbera stopped 16 shots, lifting the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.

Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks, who went 3-1 on a four-game trip. Perry leads the league with 11 goals.

Dennis Everberg scored his first NHL goal, and Nathan MacKinnon added another for weary Colorado, which also lost at St. Louis in a shootout on Saturday.

Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves.

Arizona’s Shane Doan scored twice as the Coyotes salvaged something from their road trip, ending a three-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 6-5 win over the mistake-prone Washington Capitals.

The Coyotes trailed 3-1 after the first period, but power-play goals by Michael Stone and Doan leveled it in the second before Sam Gagner and Doan capitalized on sloppy turnovers early in the third.

Antoine Vermette tallied in the first period, and Tobias Rieder added his first NHL goal late in the third for the Coyotes, who had been outscored 12-4 in the first three games of their trip.

Ovechkin, Tom Wilson, John Carlson, Joel Ward and Troy Brouwer scored for the Capitals.

At Raleigh, North Carolina, Elias Lindholm’s second-period goal proved to be the difference in the Hurricanes’ 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

Victor Rask and Chris Terry also scored for the Hurricanes.

Mike Richards and Alec Martinez had goals for Los Angeles.

The Buffalo Sabres edged the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 after Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons scored shootout goals.

Michal Neuvirth made 36 saves and stopped Henrik Zetterberg in the third round of the shootout to help the Sabres win at home for the first time this season.

Brian Flynn and Chris Stewart both scored their first goals of the season, and Tyson Strachan had two assists for Buffalo, which beat Detroit for the first time since Oct. 13, 2009.

Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and an assist, Tomas Tatar also scored, and Jimmy Howard made 19 saves for Detroit.

Josh Jooris scored two goals to lead the Calgary Flames to a 6-2 rout of the Montreal Canadiens 6-2, while Michael Hutchinson stopped 33 shots for his first career shutout as the Winnipeg Jets blanked the Chicago Blackhawks 1-0.

Vancouver’s Filip Forsberg scored twice and added an assist as the Nashville Predators held on to top the Canucks 3-1.
