For the third straight week, Jeddah Lanes has been brought to its knees by the winner of the Team of the Week award as Lucky Strike joined JP Gilas and Purefoods Hotdog in breaching the 40 points mark during the 16th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 34th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Lucky Strike at 43 was a point shy of the perfect score of 44 as it clinched its second team award. Gilas also had a 43 the week before last where Purefoods posted 42.

None came close to Lucky Strike’s total with Purefoods and Alliance in Motion Global on 34 and 31 points respectively.

Gilas is still sitting pretty at the top of the team standings after compiling 30.5 points. D’ Barkads collected 30 in fifth place on the day followed by GM Pin Pals 25, Hidada Ltd. 22, D’ Frontiers 18 and Sky Freight Forwarders 13.5. Lance and 3rdy and Pin Crushers brought up the rear on 11 and 6 points.

Lucky Strike actually enjoyed a double courtesy of Danny Bautista who claimed the men’s Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 693 on scratch games of 266, 245 and 182.

The other winner of the session’s individual race was Malou Nidoy of Purefoods who returned the best score of 624 in her division to become the ladies Bowler of the Week on lines of 183, 181 and 170.

Lucky Strike was on course for a perfect score after winning the first two games but then Purefoods got in the way of its design, winning the third game and relegating Strike to second on total pinfalls of 1,074-1,014.

Still, Lucky Strike, which had the top overall output, was playing at a different level. Consider: In addition to Bautista’s 693, 631, 607 and 602 lit up the scoresheet thanks to Ruben Grino, Nurissa Ramos and Matet Cavite. Archie Santos added 190-226 and Rudy Valenzuela 172.

It’s the ladies turn to shine at Purefoods with Marie Gumpal keeping pace with Nidoy on 618. Team captain Igna Salgado and Joel Nidoy were the other players to complete three games on 591 and 567, while Majid Aslani and Jojie Manalansan shared three games on 221-227 and 164.

The trio of Randy Mata, Jim Mandingiado and Michelle Mata bowled big for Alliance on 616, 610 and 603. The other scorers were Cris Villavelez 215-203 and Bonnie Garcia 185.
