Changing names from Al Kabeer Frozen Foods to Magnolia Ice Cream, this champion team of Igna Salgado won’t rest on its laurels as it won Team of the Week honors two weeks into the newly opened league dubbed Sarawat Superstores Thursday Bowling League 13th Season at the Bowling City in Sultanah Center.

After RJ Tumbador claimed the award on opening week Magnolia Ice Cream got on board as the next week’s top team on 30 points.

D’ Barkads, the 10th Season titleholder, pooled 27 points in second place on the night followed by Tumbador 23.5, Carling Sport Wear 22 and Habagat 20.5 points.

Unilever Arabia finished the session in sixth place on 19.5 points, while Al Murjana, AL Striker and BCT-Hokbi Fashion filled the last three spots on 18, 13 and 6.5 points.

Gerry Mandanas made it a Magnolia double when he rolled the high series of 689 to become the Bowler of the Week.

Mandanas shot scratch games of 214, 233 and 200 to be at the helm of a Magnolia charge that saw the squad return the top overall output of 3,111 for 9 points that effectively swung the race in its favor.

Team captain Salgado backed up Mandanas on 675, while Bandar Al Dossary, Mohd. Amri and Jay-R de Dios tossed in rounds of 646, 570 and 531 in the five-man team rotation.

Counting its first week tally of 28.5 points D’ Barkads edged out Tumbador for first place in the young tournament, as Bing Amolo shot 641 to go with the 595 by Leo Edejer, 564 by James Galvan, 551 by Rudy Valenzuela, 191-194 by Obie Ycasas and 181-204 by Dan Ednave.

Tumbador had Dylan Ilagan firing the team’s top score of 644 with Joel Nidoy on 584. The rest of the scorers were Pancho Cuevas 187-219, Richard Junio 167-191, and Rene Punzalan 183-145.

Back in the first week Tumbador was first off the blocks after getting the goods from Nidoy 664, Ilagan 657, Punzalan 642 and Rey Feliciano 642. Cuevas added a pair of 179s and Tommy Kamal had 163.

The second-best point getter on the first week was Habagat 28.6 points followed by Murjana 28, D’ Barkads 11, BCT-Hokbi Fashion 17.5, AL Striker 17, Carling 15, Magnolia 13 and Unilever 8.

For Carling Sport Wear its second week showing was chiefly hammered by Jeff San Pedro 610, Jimmy Mandingiado 576 and Carlos Constantino 567.

Over at Habagat the duo of Geo Mangaliman and Rommel Cagampang led the way on 628 and 607.
