Randy Mata shared center stage with Kabalen when he rolled a perfect 300 game during the seventh week in the OSN-FTBJ 49th Open Conference bowling tournament at the Jeddah Lanes here.

Kabalen became the seventh different team to clinch Team of the Week honors trotting out 44 points, just 4 points shy of perfect 48 and second only to the highest total thus far of 46 posted by Habagat on the third week. MC Hammer also tallied 44 duirng the second team of the Saturday night five-man team league event sponsored by OSN.

Kabalen was far and away the best on the night with AFM-Moe a distant second on 39 points followed by Habagat 37. Jeddah Lanes and Bank AlJazira Fawri tied on 33. Taurus Amigos were alone on 30.

MC Hammer compiled 27 points and Geely had 22. Defending champion and sixth week honoree Sky Freight-TFC was out of sorts to be deep down the ranking on 15, while Red Dragons, Fineboys Rhinoz and SPBC Bowlers occupied the last three spots on 13, 12 and 7 in that order.

Mata hit 12 straight strikes for his career fourth 300 game, considered the holy grail for any serious bowler, right off the bat. He added 181 ad 193 and ended up with 674 at the helm of Fawri, which drew 656 from Jowet Carion, 614 from Luis Luna, 606 from Atoi Cruz and 536 from Mikee Protacio.

Joel Nidoy of Taurus was the session’s Bowler of the Week as he fired the high series of 689 on lines of 259, 215 and 215.

Kabalen enjoyed a strong finish in the four-phased race thanks to the solid games by the trio of Nick Gozun 645, Regie Mendoza 634 and Jay Bengco 622. Ruel Santoc added a valuable 213 and 222 while Jojie Manalansan tosse in 215.

AFM-Moe went for a five-man rotation with Nonie Yap showing the way on 658 followed by Obie Ycasas 628, Danny Bautista 621, Cesar Monares 613 and Ding Dela Rosa 605.

Leo Edjer’s 650 was the top score at Habagat. Edris Mangoda had 634 and Archie Santos 625, while Richard Antonio contributed 180-193 and Jimmy Argones added 181 for Habagat.

The fifth Team of the Week, Jeddah Lanes, got strong performances from the triumvirate of Majid Aslani 677, Gerry Mananas 606 and Mohd. Amri 604. With two games each were Igna Salgado 183-180, Frank Afurong 204, 172 and Jeff San Pedro 237, 195.
