The end of the Riyadh Wheelers season was marked by a rare scare for Club Champion Thierry Mathy when Bruno Syfrig recorded an impressive personal best which nearly caused an upset in the 25 mile TT event, by coming within a minute of Mathy’s 55 superb minute ride.

Syfrig revealed he had been doing some hard training in preparation for a busy summer of competition, which will include an Ironman Event.

In third place was experienced international triathlete Ben Psaila, who was happier with his performance this time, in what he considered to be his weakest discipline. Unusually off the podium, but still producing a quality ride was Jiri Kuba in 4th, ahead of two pure roadmen, Norberto Daa and Jeremy Mirasol.

The next 3 places were only separated by 23 seconds, Rob Patrick just edging out George Morete and Geron Guanlao who rode a standard machine. Looking further down the order, Ahmed Ibrahim put in an excellent ride in 11th and admitted to doing a lot of training and hopes to be at his best for next season.

Personal bests were the order of the day, with many being recorded by the small field, the most impressive being Damien Donohue who improved by 7 minutes. Maria Araujo was in a class of her own in the Cat B race, with Abdulmajeed Almuayqil doing well in a 20+mph ride in his first season.
