JEDDAH: Unbeaten My Care Hala and Nestle Milo won the Premier and Afternoon League finals in contrasting styles.

MCH triumphed without facing a ball as their rivals Dopco Stars turned up late while Nestle breezed past Hala Academy by 9 wickets, according to the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), organizers of the tournament.

They said umpires penalized Dopco Stars who arrived half-an-hour late. They lost three overs of the Twenty20 over final.

Dopco Stars failed to accept the umpires’ decision and conceded the match.

It was unfortunate that the three-month tournament concluded on such a sour note. Saudi Cricket Center sponsored the league.

After the finals a glittering prize distribution ceremony was held, which was attended by the Saudi Cricket Center officials, WPCA committee members and other dignitaries.

In the Afternoon final Hala Academy White were bowled out for 155. Amir Sajjad top-scored with 53 runs while Osama Amjed contributed 39. Irfan Alvi claimed 4 for 15, Aijaz Butt had 2 for 26. Nestle Milo achieved their target of 156 off 110 balls with 9 wickets in hand. Aijaz Butt, who was later chosen as the Man-of-the-Final, scored and unbeaten 100 runs. He added valuable 94 runs off 59 balls with Abdullah Zahid who stroked 29 for the opening stand. Imran Sarvar remained unbeaten on 22

Aijaz Butt of Nestle Milo bagged the Man-of-the-Final award.

At the awards ceremony, Nadeem Nadwi was the chief guest. Others included, Sadiqul Islam, Kashif Mirza, Rahat Ali, Khurshid Zafar, Ilyas Mustafa, Shafeeq, Zahdi Qureshi and Gazally from WPCA.

SCC Premier Division: Best Batsman on Aggregate: Qamar Abbas (MCH); Best Batsman on Average: Kashif Shafeeq (MCH); Best Bowler on Aggregate wkts: Adnan Dani (MCH), Best Bowler on Average: Aijaz Sagheer (Crown Steel); Man of the Tournament: Ather (Pepsi Deccan Knights); Best Wicketkeeper: Imran Azam (Crown Steel). The winning cup was presented MCH skipper Babar Hussain by the chief guest.

SCC Afternoon Division: Best Batsman on aggregate: Furquan Ahmed (Hala White); Best Batsman on Average: Aijaz Butt (Nestle Milo); Best Bowler on aggregate wickets: (Irfan Alvi (Nestle Milo); Best Bowler on Average: and Man of the Tournament: Furquan Ahmed (Hala White); Best wicketkeeper: Moon Shah (AMI Juffali).

The winning trophy was lifted by Abdullah Zahid of Nestle Milo while Furquan Ahmed was handed over the runner-up cup.

The matches were supervised by Arshad Chohan, Imran, Zafar and Laiq Baig while scoring and commentary was in hands of Naushad.
