Mahd Al-Uloom International School (MIS) recently conducted its 6th annual sports meet — MIS Atletico 2014 ATLETICO — at the Manchester Stadium in Jeddah.

The stadium posed a picturesque sight as it was filled with jubilant children and cheerful parents.

Students from the four houses — Emerald, Ruby, Topaz and Sapphire — took part in the march-past in a display of disciplined commitment.

The students of higher blocks staged a creative mass drill performance, reflecting the theme for 2014 — ‘Win as one’.

Youngsters showcased their unity, understanding and willpower in various forms of sports activities. They also created an impressive human pyramid.

The event commenced with an invocation of Holy Q’uran by Safwan.

School Principal Abdulla K. welcomed the guests.

Abdu Rabb, a board member of the school, presided over the event.

He called on the children to carry forward the MIS tradition of excellence with pride.

Saudi Indian Football Forum President Hifzu Rahman, who was chief guest, commended the school’s efforts in promoting young talent.

Abdu Rauf, a member of director board, presented a memento to the chief guest.

Harshad, the school’s sports captain, administered the oath, promising to adhere to the spirit of sportsmanship.

Sports Secretary Mansoor CK proposed the vote of thanks.

He highlighted the importance of physical training and sports for schoolchildren.

Apart from athletic programs, students also competed in games such as football, tug-of-war and Kabadi.

They also took part in fun-filled contests like balloon breaking and sack jumping.

The Sapphire House was declared the winner and Emerald house was named runner-up.

The event came to an end amid the joyous cheers of children.

Ahmed Al-Gamdhi, manager of the school, distributed prizes, trophies and certificates.

The students of the girls’ section also participated in their Sports Meet that comprised a wide range of track and field events.

Shahida Hameed, convener of the program, welcomed the guests.

Salma Sheik, principal of the girls’ section, presided over the event.

Ahlam Swalih Al-Harbi, manager of the section, inaugurated the girls’ sports meet.

The Blue House won the top position and Yellow and Red Houses were declared as runners-up.
