DAMMAM: Noble Badminton Club in Dammam will host the Mega Doubles Tournament this weekend.

The two-day tournament starting Friday is being organized within the framework of the club's objectives to promote and improve the standards of badminton in the Kingdom. The club is known for its unity and cooperation among the members. The club has been conducting mega tournaments, singles, Mini doubles tournament and several exchange tournaments. Also, the club conducts badminton camps for kids on Fridays and Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

This tournament is sanctioned by the Saudi Badminton Committee with more than 450 players expected to participate. Players from Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh etc. are entered in different categories. The players are from various regions of Saudi Arabia as well as from Bahrain, Indonesia, Russia and Thailand.

All arrangements for the tournament are completed. A tournament committee consisting of 25 members will run the event under Tournament Director Hassan Mohammed and club chairman Khalid Saleh.

The venue of the tournament is NBC indoor badminton stadium behind Novotel Khaldia Dammam and the matches will be played in two indoor stadiums having 5 courts in total. Friday, the matches will start at 8 a.m. and will continue till 11 p.m.. On Saturday the matches will start at 8 a.m. and continue till 10 p.m. when the last match is finished. A total of 300 matches are scheduled for these two days.

The c tournament categories are Men’s, Junior & Sub-junior doubles and Singles for Saudi Nationals boys 12 & 14 years. There are 10 different levels in each category based on the grade of the players. Champions and runner-up of each level will be awarded with trophies.
