JEDDAH: The crossover semifinals for the Friday Evening Division of Overseas Filipino Basketball League (OFBL) Inter-Company Bonafide Division is now set, with unbeaten No. 1 seed FedEx to go up against No. 4 Bahra Cable with a twice to beat edge, and the newcomer and unexpected No. 2 LeMall Alshaya to battle No. 3 Halwani.
The knockout semifinal games will be played this Friday.
The Evening Division Week 14 featured interesting games in which Rapapipz again dumped again Firnas team 83-73 in the Inter-Commercial Open Non Rated, while J. Lions never recovered after falling into a the huge hole from the start of the first quarter and lost against the equally strong Jufalli Team 84-77.
The third game was the rescheduled match between Bahra Cable and Halwani Team in the last leg of their positioning for the semis. Undermanned Halwani, showing a lot of resiliency, managed to escape with an eight-point margin of victory winner over the much taller Bahra Cable 78-70.
As a result, Halwani took the No. 3 spot and Bahra the No. 4 with a tougher assignment versus FedEx which it will have to beat two times to advance to the championship match.
The OFBL Morning Division, meantime, entered the fourth week.
Solid North set the tone of tone of the day by crushing newcomer Tropang OFW 94-71.
In the second game, mighty Yummy Yummy team hammered out a convincing 83-73 triumph over LJPF-Sete Warriors.
The Warriors went down to their second defeat of the tournament in the Open Height Division. The surprising Tropang Taken overran the Jeddah Lions in a heavy margin of victory 82-61. Tropang Taken improved to 2-1 win-loss record, while consigning Jeddah Lions to 1-1 in the team standings.
The defending champion Repapipz showed why they are a hot title contender in the 5’11 Below Group Division by demolishing Holiday Inn-Reborn Team which suffered its third straight loss in the tournament.
