EVANSTON, Illinois: Carlos Hyde ran for a career-high 168 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 4 Ohio State rallied to beat No. 16 Northwestern, 40-30, on Saturday night here to extend the nation’s longest win streak to 18 games.

The Buckeyes (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten) remained undefeated since Urban Meyer took over as coach last year. On a rain-soaked field and with a prime-time audience watching, they rallied from 10 down in the third quarter to take out a team aiming to show it could beat the best in the conference.

Two scoring runs by Hyde in the fourth quarter helped prevent that. He was credited with a 2-yard TD after a replay review early in the fourth to put Ohio State ahead, 26-23.

Then, after Northwestern’s Trevor Siemian connected with Cameron Dickerson on a 12-yard score, Hyde ran it in from the 7 with 5:22 left in the game. That made it 34-30. The Wildcats’ Kain Colter got stopped on fourth and 1 at the Ohio State 34 with 2:43 left after he picked up his own fumble, wiping out a late threat. The game ended with Northwestern lateralling and the Buckeyes recovering the loose ball in the end zone.

Michigan 42 Minnesota 13: Devin Gardner threw a 24-yard, go-ahead touchdown pass to Devin Funchess late in the first half as the No. 19 Wolverines (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten) routed the Golden Gophers (4-2, 0-2) in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Michigan relied on the running game to take the pressure off Gardner, who was 13 of 17 passing for 235 yards and didn’t throw an interception for the first time since making his first start as a quarterback in last year’s game at Minnesota.

Minnesota was without coach Jerry Kill for an entire game for the first time because of his epilepsy. He had a seizure Saturday morning, when he planned to travel to Michigan to coach, and remained home to rest in Minnesota.

The Wolverines have won 18 straight at home, the longest active streak among BCS conference schools and their longest since winning 28 in a row in Ann Arbor from 1969-73.

In place of Kill, defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys served as head coach from the press box. Kill had his fifth game-day seizure in three seasons at Minnesota, and the second this year. Minnesota tight end Maxx Williams insisted the players’ mood did not change when they were informed Saturday morning at the team hotel that Kill wouldn’t be on the sideline.

Alabama 45 Georgia St. 3: AJ McCarron completed 15 of 16 passes for 166 yards and four TDs in the first half and the top-ranked Crimson Tide (5-0) rolled over the Panthers (0-5) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Alabama hasn’t allowed a TD in the past three games, giving up only three field goals. Georgia State, a first-year a first-year Football Bowl Subdivision team, ended Alabama’s bid for a second straight shutout with Wil Lutz’s school-record 53-yard field goal on the second half’s opening drive.

Oregon 57 Colorado 16: Marcus Mariota threw five TD passes and ran for two scores as the No. 2 Ducks (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12) routed the Buffaloes (2-2, 0-2) in Boulder, Colorado

The Ducks’ sophomore connected for two TDs each with Josh Huff and Bralon Addison, and played only 2½ quarters.

Louisville 30 Temple 7: Teddy Bridgewater threw for 348 yards and two TDs as the No. 7 Cardinals (5-0, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) routed the Owls (0-5, 0-2) in Philadelphia.

Louisville receiver DeVante Parker, who has six TD catches this season, left in the first half with an injured right shoulder. Without one of his favorite targets, Bridgewater was still impressive, completing 25 of 35 passes. He threw a TD pass for the 17th straight game.

LSU 59 Mississippi St. 26: Zach Mettenberger threw for 340 yards and two TDs, Odell Beckham Jr. had 179 yards receiving and two TDs, and the No. 10 Tigers (5-1, 2-1 SEC) routed the Bulldogs (2-3, 0-2) in Starkville, Mississippi

Mettenberger connected on 25 of 29 passes, hooking up with Beckham for nine completions. LSU’s Jeremy Hill added 157 yards rushing and two TDs. The Tigers have won 14 straight over Mississippi State.

Oklahoma 20 TCU 17: Brennan Clay broke a 76-yard TD run late in the fourth quarter as the No. 11 Sooners (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) held off the Horned Frogs (2-3, 0-2) in Norman, Oklahoma

Trey Millard had a TD run for Oklahoma and Michael Hunnicutt hit field goals of 39 and 32 yards. Oklahoma has won 10 straight Big 12 games, its third-longest streak in conference play since the league formed in 1996.
