JEDDAH: Old Students and Peeran XI scored contrasting wins in the Afternoon League matches organized by Jeddah Cricket Association. Old Students made short work of ICAD by 8 wickets while Peeran XI struggled to get past Munch Bakery by 3 wickets.

Munch Bakery were off to flying start after they won the toss and decided to bat. Openers Rana (66) and Afzal (29) put on 95 off the first 9 overs. However, the good work by the openers was not capitalized by the batsmen to follow as none could reach double figures. Munch Bakery finished of their innings with 158 runs on board, thanks to 26 no balls given away by the bowling side. Faisal and Tariq had 2 wickets each for 37 and 24 runs respectively.

In reply Peeran XI openers Tariq and Faisal provided a sound start scoring 29 and 23 respectively.

Later, Mustafa came in and played a confident quick fire innings of 55 runs, which came of 55 balls to take Peeran XI home at 159 for 7 with an over to spare. Rana and Osama claimed 2 wickets each for 19 and 29 runs.

In another match, ICAD, a new entrant, has been doing very well in league but in this match it ran out of luck. Despite a good start provided by Irfan (26) and Athar (18) they were bundled out for 75 runs. Old Students bowlers ran through their batting line-up. Ehsan had figures of 3 for 8 runs while Asif, Nazim and Abdul had 2 wickets each for 22, 6 and 3 runs respectively.

In reply Old Students knocked off the required runs in only 7 overs and lost 2 wickets. Waqas (25) and Umar (30) who made easy work of the helpless ICAD bowlers. Shakeel and Hasan picked up a wicket each.
