JEDDAH: The stage is set for the stepladder finals with Par Excellence, Hidada Ltd., Sky Freight-OSN and D’ Barkads all in with a chance to go all the way for the championship crown in the FTBJ-ICBL Sky Freight Forwarders League at the Bowling City here.

These four teams had survived the 3 games point system knockout. They play the first stepladder match in two games with handicap knockout against each other with the winner to face No. 3 Masaken.

The second match winner then goes on to meet No. 2 Steelers in another knockout game for the right to challenge waiting No. 1 finalist Sadafco in the championship match where Sadafco enjoys a twice-to-beat privilege.

While Sadafco needs only to win once for the title the rest in the stepladder cast has to win at least twice to make it. In case any one of the four survivors emerge the champion it will have won five matches on the day, a daunting task indeed.

Par Excellence led the qualifiers from the repechage on 31 points followed by Hidada 30, Sky Freight 25.5 and D’ Barkads 23. Eliminated teams to fill the eighth to 12th final order of finish are league grand slam holder Sagmit Dental Clinic, Rock n Roll, Al Murjanah, Ceebee Aviation and ICBL Mix Inserts.

The trio of Archie Santos, Nurissa Ramos and Ester Santoc was at the helm of Par Excellence charge on 611, 597 and 570 in that order. Emil Payongayong tossed in 580 as the fourth player to do three-game series, with Yasser Hokbi on 222-227 and Edu Toledo on 201.

Hidada built its total around the leading scorers Grace Siasoco 642, Nonie Yap 595 and Pinky Acato 593. With two games each were Nanding Siasoco 203-171, Almro Al Amri 213-181 and Ed Cordova 195-164.

At Sky Freight Goying Salazar was the main man on 630. He was backed up by the ladies duo of Babes Tiongson 582 and Imelda Sayago 517 as well as Oca Bernabe 556, James Galvan 208-178 and Bonnie Garcia 215.

D’ Barkads got a big lift from ladies tandem of Thess Grandia and Cheryl Tibay who led all scorers on 591 and 590 respectively. Gerry Tano and Rally Zamora added 583 and 573, while Leo Edejer had 206-191 and Ed Sardiña 183.

The stepladder matches will start at 1:30 p.m. today.
