JEDDAH: Pin Slashers sounded an early warning, notching a grand slam and claiming the lead during the fourth week action in the the FTBJ-ICBL 37th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.
Pin Slashers carded the highest total pinfalls of 3,798 to emerge Team of the Week. Matet Cavite and Roger Daquiaog then made it a week to remember by completing the Slashers’ grand slam by winning the ladies and men’s Bowler of the Week awards on 723 and 706 respectively.
Also, Pin Slashers, with this unbelievable performance, became the third team in four weeks to hold the lead in the young six-man team league event.
Defending champion Ekis Reload was a distant second on the day with total pinfalls of 3, 614 followed by Lucky Me 3, 582, D’ Barkads 3, 551, Virgin Mobile 3, 481 and erstwhile league leader JP Singco 3, 470.
Pin Slashers enjoyed a dominant performance, shooting games of 1, 249, 1, 295 and 1, 254. Cavite fired scratch games of 256, 231 and 182 while Daquioag had solid rounds of 214, 258 and 234 as they led their team that also drew 662 from May Lourdes, 579 from Rom Cagampang 573 from Rommel Agbayani and 555 from Daryl Loquias.
Still to make an impression, Ekis had the trio of Zaldy Bacero, Alma Bacero and Emil Payongayong showing the way on 636, 626 and 600. The other scorers were Malou Gime 598, Geo Mangaliman 592 and Faisal Relativo 562.
Lucky Me had quietly moved up to third from fifth in the team standings thanks mainly to the duo of Melvin Lising 696 and Majid Aslani 658. Richard Junio tallied 587, skipper Igna Salgado added 578, Luz Pagaran contributed 536 and Marie Gumpal tossed in 527.
At D’ Barkads Rudy Valenzuela was the day’s second highest scorer on 683 on lines of 238, 243 and 190. Valenzuela got help from Rally Zamora and Len-Len Berina on 611 and 601, as well as from Ed Sardiña 589, Thess Grandia and Leo Edejer 503.
Sponsored team Virgin Mobile got a lift from Shirley Sagmit 632 and Jojie Manalansan 627. The other scorers were Aileen Miralbuna 546, Jayson Castillo 533 and Rene Ocampo 511.
