JEDDAH: Pinslashers ended the long reign of Ekis Reload at the top of the standings even as JP Gilas 2 scored a breakthrough Team of the Week victory during an eventful 17th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 36th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

JP Gilas returned the top tally of 42.5 points to become the session’s top team but Pinslashers generated some buzz, compiling 35 points in a tie with Sadafco that in the end proved enough to elbow Ekis out of No. 1.

Ekis suffered a monumental collapse at this critical stage of the eliminations to finish next to last on the day with 12.5 points. Ekis was only better than the perennal tailender United Doctors which tallied 4 points.

Sky Freight-OSN, mired in the lower half of the standings, narrowly fell short in what could have been its first honors and settled for second place half a point behind on 42 points followed by Patsamba 41 and defending champion Hidada Ltd. 39.

Sagmit Dental Clinic, sitting pretty at third place in the team standings, carded 29 points. Only half a point separated Zekiesha 23.5 and Saudia Ice Cream 23 with Cristal-Rock n Roll on 22 and D’ Barkads on 15.5.

Sharmaine Patayan of Patsamba and SDC’s Philip Raymundo were the ladies and men’s Bowlers of the Week with respective efforts of 668 and 685.

The top two point getters of the day never got to win a game or overall output but they were more consistent than others. Sky Freight and JP Gilas switched places in the first two games and the latter edged home when it outpointed Emy de Guzman’s charges in the third game and overall output 21 to 20 points.

Jeanette Cerbito led all Gilas scorers on 628 points with Paolo Allego on 598 and Lourdes Punzalan on 593. Contributing two games each were Marlon Bernabe 217-207, Rene Punzalan 195-212 and Rey Beltran 223-216.

The trio of Oca Bernabe, Yolly Santos and Imelda Sayago took charge at Sky Freight, scoring 677, 604 and 550 in that order, while James Galvan did two games 203-181 along with Bonnie Garcia 268-213 and Goying Salazar 204-200.

Tash Haitam, Archie Santos, Nap Patayan and Nurissa Ramos complemented Sharmaine’s effort at Patsamba with rounds of 648, 629, 599 and 587 in a five-man team to count in the total.

Amro Al Amri was the top man in the Hidada’s six-player rotation on 664 followed by Romy Bunagan 627, Aisah Silabay 602, Grace Siasoco 599, Wilson Triguero 199-197 and Nanding Siasoco 187.

Rommel Cagampang and Matet Cavite were chief in points building for Pinslashers on 672 and 620. Jimmy Mandigidado tossed in 588, May Lourdes had 581, Roger Daquioag 233-213 and Daryl Laquias 187.
