Purefoods Hotdog put some muscle in its challenge for the No. 1 spot by clinching the Team of the Week award during the 15th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 34th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Going from strength to strength, Purefoods returned the third league-best total of 42 points and in the process passed Sky Freight-TFC at second place in the team standings.

League-leading JP Gilas, fresh off back-to-back Team of the Week accolades, tallied 35 points for second place on the day with defending champion Alliance in Motion Global on 34 points and D’ Barkads on 33.

Hidada Ltd. compiled 30 points to become the other team to reach the number. Lance & 3rdy collected 23 points while the Sky Freight struggle continues as Emy de Guzman’s team, once at second place, could only muster 19 points.

Lucky Strike pooled 18 points with D’ Frontiers, GM Pin Pals and Pin Crushers filling the last three spots on 17, 9 and 4.

Pin Crushers gained some consolation when one of their players, Alex Flora, took home the men’s Bowler of the Week plum after shooting the high series of 685 on scratch games of 232, 226 and 194.

Alma Bacero of D’ Barkads was the ladies Bowler of the Week on 645. She fired lines of 198, 138 and 171.

After rolling a perfect 300 game the previous week on the way to the Bowler of the Week title, Majid Aslani again led the Purefoods charge on 635.

In winning its second award Purefoods also drew strong performances from skipper Igna Salgado 630 and from its ladies duo of Malou Nidoy and Marie Gumpal who carded 610 and 595 respectively.

Joel Nidoy, one of the four Class O bowlers on the Purefoods roster, added 263 and 210 while Jojie Manalansan tossed in 204.

Paolo Allego and Jeanette Cerbito delivered robust games for Gilas to be at the helm on 633 and 627. Lou Punzalan was the other other that played full games on 589. Rene Punzalan contributed 203-178, Rey Beltran 209-193 and Zaldy Bacero 224-200.

Randy Mata and the husband-and-wife team of Danny and Merlen Pamintuan took charge at Alliance. Randy shot 642, Merlen made 616 and Danny 615. Michelle Mata shared 593, Bonnie Garcia did two games at 190-182 and Cris Villavelez had 200.

Besides Alma Leo Edejer, Ed Sardiña and Rally Zamora enjoyed solid games for D’ Barkads on 610, 609 and 605 in that order. Cheryl Tibay’s 542 rounded out the team’s scoring.

Hidada’s Nanding Siasoco was among those to cross 600 series on 629.
