Taurus kept raising the bar. A week after scoring the league’s first perfect 28 points, the rampaging Taurus team achieved the rare feat of perfect grand slam during the fourth week in the OFBC Friday Morning League 5+1 Season 4 recently at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

Captained by Edwin Ronquillo, Taurus again hit the maximum possible score of 28 points as the Team of the Week, and Regino Mendoza and Fedelyn Bustinera sealed the grand slam by winning the men’s and ladies Bowler of the Weeek award respectively.

It was the fourth straight week Taurus enjoyed at the top, claiming this latest feat after a 20-0 shutout of hapless Archie’s Team on total pinfalls of 2,766 and 2,233 and rank points of 8 and 3.

Krau Thai Restaurant again came in second in the points race on 23 following a 16-4 whipping of Cyclone on total pinfalls of 2,468-2,467 and rank points of 7-6.

In other matches, Zikato Strikers rebounded from a Cyclone defeat the previous week by beating Troopers 16-4 (2,304-2,158 4-2) while D’ Luf’s Strikers brought down Selections 14-6 (2,318-1,506 5-1).

At the end of the session Zikato totaled 20 and Luf’s 19.

Beginning bowler Mendoza took advantage of his rich handicap to shoot the high series of 605 on scratch games of 155, 177 and 201 as he teamed with fellow indiviudal awardee Fedelyn, with a best 503 in her division, in leading the Taurus charge.

Jhoon Caisip was likewise solid for Taurus on 597 while Hadi Pacheco added 537, Ric Nangel 135-180 and Jun Pamintuan 137.

Krau Thai team captain Ed Labuac led by example, carding the top score of 541 with Alice Penus on 499 and Bakin Llanes on 485. With two games each were Obet Vedonia 137-136, Mildred Florentino 116-113 and Margie Villasanta 123-136.

For Zikato, Arman Gamboa owned the leading score of 517 with Jerry “Ka Imo” Carredo backing him up on 489. Vic Gonzales on 426 and Gemma Zuniga on 373 were the others to go the distance, while Benj Espinosa made 156-152 and skipper Toto Lim had 143.

Over at Luf’s the husband-and-wife team of Alexander Duma and Carmen Duma showed the way on 512 and 463 with Nards Hassan on 451. Contributing two games each were captain Danny Atubang 120-114, Osman de Guzman 144-146 and Cromwell Marzo 125-99.

Zikato Construction through Operations Manager Albert Zuniga is the major sponsor of the tournament.
