Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) completed the team registration process to pave the way for the opening today of the new 2012-2013 season. Last Wednesday, 25 teams registered for the new season.

RCL President Mamoor Elahi chaired the meeting and reviewed the new season’s plan and assured teams of proper facilities to enable them to showcase their cricketing skills during the matches.

He said the calendar season will be full of events such as three T20, two 40 overs tournament, Intercity matches with other regional cricket leagues, International tour, Inter-school and Inter-embassies. Elahi applauded the efforts of RCL committee for keeping the sport of cricket alive in Riyadh. Full details of RCL activities are updated on the RCL website ww.rcl-ksa.com, he said.

The teams have been divided into three groups. Six teams will participate in super division league, 10 in premier league one, and a further 8 in premier league two.

Super league teams are: Friends C.C, Mehran Spices, Al Eid C.C, NAB C.C, Jawar Al Jazeerah and Pakhtoon Khwan C.C .

Bracketed in premier league are Falcon C.C, Game pro C.C, Cricket Samarwa, Riyadh Sport C.C, Mughal C.C, Saudi Jaguar, Gujranwala, Super Green, Royal Fighters and National C.C., while the premier league two teams are Cyberoam C.C, Maestro C.C, Bhatkal Warriors, Cricketers, Black Caps, Star Eleven, Konkan C.C, Indian Strikers and Karachi Titans.

To kick off the RCL new season today is the T-20 Cup. All arrangements have been made including preparation of all six grounds.

The president and RCL executive committee wished all the teams the best of luck and hope everybody will maintain discipline on and off the field, said RCL Senior VP Jawaid Munawar.
