Red Dragons were unforgiving to the end as they dominated RTJ Transient House in the match between the league’s best teams for the championship crown in the OFBC 3 + 1 Friday Afternoon League 2nd Season at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

RTJ earned a crack at No. 1 Red Dragons by taking out No. 3 Makati Foods in the third match of the stepladder final only to get waylaid during the two-game series finale.

Match 1 of the stepladder went to Youngsters Revival which hammered out a 525-510 victory over Versatile Guys. Youngsters and Versatile were the fourth and fifth qualifiers for the championship round.

That proved the only win of Youngsters, their progress blocked by Makati Foods 498-450 in a match that Makati team captain Vov Stone carried with a 160 scratch game with Archie Alcantara on 141.

Against second seed Rudy Jamon’s Transient House, however, Makati Foods ended up at the short end of the 584-472 verdict, with Joel Nidoy hitting 211 at the helm of RTJ.

The first three matches went according to seedings. And the fourth and final match? It sure did with Red Dragons ending their amazing run to the title in style.

Red Dragons, having the advantage of a higher handicap, never gave challenger RTJ a chance, winning the first of a two-game series by 21 pins 591-570 and the second by an even bigger margin of 50 pins at 538-488.

Red Dragons totaled 1,129 and RTJ 1,058.

In the first game, Arman Gamboa and co-captain Bash Langa rolled 178 and 172 with Tom Langa on 148 and Cesar Pagtalunan on 144 for Red Dragons.

RTJ had Hadi Pacheco and Malou Nidoy as the main scorers on 184 and 172, and the team collapsed in the second game with Joel’s 173 the only score of note.

The Dragons, on the other hand, had the 184 of Tom Langa to go with the 135 by Thong Mujeeb Langa, 125 by Bash and 123 by Gamboa.
