RIYADH: Defending champion Riyad Bank captained by Zohair Oquilan splashed its deadly form to finally bag Team of the Week honors with the Bowler of the Week award to boot at the start of the second round in the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league.

Riyad Bank demolished handicap-rich SAIB in four games 340-30 and took home the Team of the Week title. Hook bowler Sonny Alviso shot the high series of 847 pinfalls to emerge Bowler of the Week while leading RB team to victory to narrow the gap on arch-rival BSF at second place and Alinma Aspire. James Frizzle rolled 829 and Mixi Lechuga tallied 645 to back up Alviso. Ric Singson and Freddie Solomon contributed 626 and 454 in three games each while Oquilan had 310 in two games.

Veteran Joey Salem was the top scorer in SAIB with 695 four-game series. He was supported by captain Eddison Austria on 694 together with Karl Octavo. Jonathan Avenido rolled 674 while Gil Catulay downed 661 pinfalls.

Banque Saudi Fransi kept winning as it blanked Saudi Hollandi Bank in four games 280-0. Hard-hitting Noel Morales top-scored in BSF with 771 followed by captain Jun Bantug on 769 while Abet Minoza and Edwin Timango rolled 675 and 651. Angel Diaz tallied 576 in three games while Dawood Sereno had 149.

In SHB, another veteran bowler Clem Salazar made a good start with 230 pinfalls. However, he failed to get the support of his teammates to match the games of their opponent and Salazar completed four-game series of 718. The trio of Gerry Ayonon, Rommel Calungcagin and Arnel Bernabe contributed 528, 518 and 452 while Eckart Gayeta and captain Greg Antonio rolled 310 and 308. Gil Hembra,Val Barquio and Cholo Nieto had 197, 155 and 136.

The match between SABB and Alinma United ended in a 2-2 draw (210-180). Jaffer Al Kathiri was the top scorer in SABB with 760 four-game series followed by Luis Bonguit (738), Mohammed Abu Al Saud (702) and Arnold Jesena (672). Captain Ahmed Al Qarquosh and Gerry Austria rolled 412 and 299.

Alinma United got even with its opponent by taking the second and last game of the match. The foursome of Allan Ofreneo, Jun Macarandan, Teody Zulaybar and Bernie Torres managed to match the games of the league leader with 790, 704, 694 and 670 four-game series. Captain Bobby Ting rolled 353 while Deen Thassim and Vic Agregado had 194 and 135.

Alinma Aspire playing bye this week only managed to post 50 win points due to bad lane conditions. Southpaw Abdulrahman Ahmed was the top scorer on 690. He was assisted by Koko Torres and Jerry Barce on 672 and 589. Captain Jojo de Silva and Angel Train tallied 457 and 365 while Rainier Torres had 265 in two games.

The tournament is played Monday nights at ITBR new venue Universal Bowling Center (UBC), and is sponsored by all participating banks.
