RIYADH: Defending champion Riyad Bank continued to convert quality performance into huge win points to bring home the Team and Bowler of the Week honors during Week 11 of the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league.

The RB team recorded the second highest win points of the season by scoring 584 points as it demolished Saudi Hollandi Bank in three games. Seasoned bowler Freddie Solomon scored a high series scratch of 860 (206, 246, 202 and 206) to run away with the Bowler of the Week title. He was assisted by Sonny Alviso who tallied 829, Ian Choco with 818, captain Zohair Oqilan 812 and Ric Singson 759. The team is managed by ITBR Finance Director Froy Garcia.

SHB grabbed the first game but failed to match its rival’s performance in the succeeding games. The duo of Clem Salazar and Arnel Bernabe made a good start and finished with 821 and 722 four-game series. Other teammates failed to play at their level with captain Greg Antonio and Cholo Nieto carding 541 and 528 in three games while Eckart Gayeta, Gerry Ayonon and Rommel Caluncagin tallied 391, 375 and 357.

The four-man team of frontrunner SABB suffered its first defeat at the hands of Alinma Aspire bowlers. Captain Jojo De Silva took advantage of the opponent’s dilemma as they thrashed them with 470-0 win. Rainier Torres led his team to victory with a four-game series of 812. Brother Koko Torres contributed 797 while captain de Silva and Abdulrahman Ahmed tallied 784 and 749 respectively. Willie Bondoc and Lito Tolentino rolled 386 and 319.

Jaffer Alkathiri top-scored at SABB with 807 while captain Ahmed Qarqoush, Gerry Austria and Luis Bonguit downed 752, 725 and 608 respectively.

The match between Banque Saudi Fransi and The Saudi Investment Bank ended in a draw at 2-all. However, it was BSF that edged ahead with 106 bonus points to win the match 326-220. Straight bowler Noel Morales was the top scorer at BSF with 810 followed by Dawood Sereno 795, captain Jun Bantug 772 and Abet Minoza rolled 732. Edwin Timango and Angel Diaz contributed 368 and 347.

Captain Eddison Austria led SAIB with 840 four-game series. He was supported by straight bowler Jonathan Avenido and Gil Catulay who rolled 777 and 756 respectively. Veteran Joey Salem contributed 539 in three games while Julius Queypo tallied 328 in two games. Rookie Karl Octavo, Michael Marasigan and Edwin Fontiveros had 168, 150 and 130.

Alinma United was playing bye this week and posted 230 points. The foursome of Bernie Torres, Teody Zulaybar, Alan Ofreneo and Jun Macarandan played well to score 732, 720, 715 and 654 in the 200 win points. Deen Thassim and captain Bobby Ting rolled 364 and 301 to gain 30 bonus points in the third game.

The tournament is played Monday nights at its new venue Universal Bowling Center (UBC) in Riyadh and is sponsored by all participating banks.
