JEDDAH: The Sadafco taking No. 1 was a non-issue in the positioning round but Steelers commanded attention when they wrested the No. 2 spot away from Masaken in the FTBJ-ICBL Sky Freight Forwarders League at the Bowling City here.

Sadafco, Steelers and Masaken are the waiting top three finalists in that order. The remaining 9 teams will have their chance to reach the stepladder round during the 3 games point system knockout where the top 4 play another two games with handicap knockout to determine who plays the first stepladder match against No. 3 Masaken and so on.

While Igna Salgado’s Sadafco enjoys a twice-to-beat edge in the championship match the Steelers squad of Randy Mata lurks dangerously going by the sharp form they have displayed of late.

During the positioning round Steelers emerged the top team for the second straight week on 44 points with Masaken trying and failing to hold on to No. 2 after compiling 39 points.

Par Excellence was 2 points back on 37 followed by Rock n Roll 33, Ceebee Aviation 31, Hidada Ltd. 29, Sky Freight-OSN 28 and ICBL Mix Inserts 22. Sagmit Dental Clinic pooled 19 points while the D’ Barkads, Sadafco and Al Murjana brought up the rear on 15, 7.5 and 7.5 points.

Nezar Mohd. and Rolly Vistal bowled big for Sadafco on 645 and 641 with the ladies pair of Michelle Mata and Grace Funtilon hitting 598 and 527. Randy added 198-236 while Ric Antonio had 222.

Zaldy Bacero fired the secone-best score of 671 in a tie with Sky Freight’s Atoi Cruz to be at the vanguard of the Masaken onslaught that saw solid 617 and 606 from Rey Beltran and Alma Bacero as well as 533 from Jeanette Cerbito, 192-187 from Paolo Allegeo and 183 from Rene Ocampo.

Archie Santos prided himself as the high series owner on 679 while steering Par Excellence, which drew 604 from Edu Toledo, 615 from Nurissa Ramos, 580 from Ester Santoc, 177-201 from Emil Payongayong and 156 from Yasser Hokbi.

Leading Rock n Roll was Faisal Relativo on 649 followed by Jay Bengco 595, Malou Gimie 563, Aileen Miralbuna 528, Ruben Grino 171-225 and Daniel Laquias 200.
