JEDDAH: A rare triple tie for Team of the Week honors marked the 15th sesssion among Sagmit Dental Clinic, Pinslashers and Ekis Reload in the FTBJ-ICBL 36th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.
All three teams posted 39 points. This rare result made league leader Ekis as the team with the most number of Team of the Week victories at five, Pinslashers with three and Sagmit Dental Clinic with two.
Yet another tie on 36 points was recorded between Patsamba and defending champion Hidada Ltd. entering the homestretch of eliminations in the five-man team Friday afternoon league event.
JP Gilas 2 was alone in seventh place on 31.5 points followed by Zekiesha 30, Saudia Ice Cream 26.5 and previous week honoree Cristal-Rock n Roll 26.
D’ Barkads, Sky Freight-OSN and United Doctors were the last three teams of the day on 16, 9 and 4 points in that order.
While ties were the norm in the team race, such was not the case in the individual battle for Bowler of the Week, with Matet Cavite of Pinslashers and Sagmit’s Philip Raymundo winning the ladies and men’s plums on 661 and 740 respectively.
In forging the three-way deadlock Sagmit, Pinslashers and Ekis all had fluctuating fortunes for the three games and overall output.
Following the lead of high series scorer Raymundo, Ric Reformado and Ding dela Rosa tossed in 629 and 608, while from the distaff side Evelyn and Ester Santoc tallied 595 and 579 that counted toward the team total.
Cavite’s score and May Lourdes’ 605 turned out as the foundation to Pinslashers’ output with Jimmy Mandigiado as the other player to complete three games on 570. The trio of Daryl Laquias, Roger Daquioag and Rommel Cagampang each shared two-game contributions of 157-209, 255-200 and 244-254 in that order.
Ending two weeks of indifferent showing, Ekis got back on track thanks mainly to Emil Payongayong 686 and Zaldy Bacero 682. The team also got help from Alma Bacero 618, Malu Gimie 558, George Mangaliman 194-190 and Faisal Relativo 202.
Benjie Cils came away with the third-best score of 711 at the forefront of the Patsamba charge that contained 670, 626 and 577 from the Patayan family of father Nap, daughter Sharmaine and mother Susan as well as 149-181 from Cesar Sacramed and 179 from Serge Rivera.
Amro Al Amri contended for the Bowler of the Week award but then settled for the second highest score of 721 as he teamed with Romy Bunagan 677 in leading Hidada. The other scorers were Lenlen Berina 576, Aisah Silabay 548, Cesar Monares 199-192 and Nanding Siasoco 182.
