JEDDAH: Sagmit Dental Clinic followed the lead of Sky Freight-Virgin Mobile as Team of the Week after the first two weeks of the newly opened event of the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah, FTBJ-ICBL 37th Conference bowling tournament, at the Bowling City here.
Sagmit Dental Clinic, runner-up to champion team Ekis Reload in the last Conference, shot total pinfalls of 3, 660 to become the best side during the second week in the six-man team league event that had departed from the points system format.
Prior to the second week Sky Freight-Virgin Mobile was first off the blocks on 3, 805 on opening week but could only gather 3,336 pinfalls last Friday. Fortunately for Emy de Guzman’s charges they managed to keep the lead after Week 2 on 7, 141.
The race for individual Bowler of the Week awards during the second week went to Matet Cavite (Pin Slashers) on 657 in the ladies division and Mhon Laxamana (Virgin Mobile) on 687 in the men’s side.
Pin Slashers rolled 3, 555 pinfalls to become the second best on the day followed by Lucky Me 3,548, JP Singco 3, 531, Virgin Mobile 3, 515, Hidada Ltd. 3, 476 and Ekis Reload 3,414.
Evelyn Santoc and Ding dela Rosa shot 632 and 623 at the head of the Sagmit charge that also contained 615 and 600 from Ruel Santoc and Ric Reformado as well as 597 froom Jun Estefano and 593 from Ester Santoc.
At Lucky Me the big numbers came from Luz Pagaran 617 and Gerry Mandanas 611 that went with the 595 by Melvin Lising, 593 by Majid Aslani, 585 by Marie Gumpal and 547 by Gary Raymundo.
JP Singco had the trio of Paolo Allego, Lou Punzalan and Randy Mata leading the way on 644, 609 and 604. Nezar Al Hamwi added 567, Rene Punzalan had 557 and Jeanette Cerbito contributed 551.
Besides Laxamana the others that helped the Virgin Mobile cause were Phil Raymundo 604, Jess Pinea 580, Jojie Manalansan 569, She Sagmit 565 and Elsie Fernandez 510.
Hidada, the 35th Conference champion, drew 652 from Leo Edejer. The other scorers were Bing Amolo 558, Thess Grandia and Gerry Tano on 549s, Rally Zamora 500 and Cheryl Tibay 495.
The defending champion Ekis got a lift from the pair of Emil Payongayong and Faisal Relativo who drilled 651 and 618. Malou Gime came through with 576, Zaldy Bacero made 538, Alma Bacero tossed in 533 and Geo Mangaliman had 498.
