SAMA-Abana mentored by Teody Zulaybar demolished SAIB to register its first Team of the Week award with the Bowler of the Week plum to boot as Riyad Bank reclaimed the lead after the second week of round 2 matches in the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league played Monday nights at the Universal Bowling Center here.

SAMA-Abana blanked SAIB in four games 475-0 and outscored everyone else to take home the award Straight bowler Jun Macarandan made it an Abana double when he shot the high series of 857 to become the top individual performer. Father-and-son tandem of Bernie and Koko Torres assisted Macarandan with 798 and 761 while captain Teody Zulaybar tallied 715. Clem Guelas and Remy Generales had 383 and 329 in two games each.

In SAIB, Jonathan Avenido was on top of his games to shoot 721 series while captain Dong Calub had 700. Joey Salem and Eddison Austria rolled 691 and 681. Gil Catulay and Ric Cura had 272 and 172 in two games each.

Riyad Bank, inspired by the surprise visit to the venue of one of the team’s avid supporters, EVP Credit Administration Division Majid Al-Gwaiz, shot back to the top of the team standings, blanking previous week best team Saudi Hollandi Bank 420-0. Mixi Lechuga became the second highest scorer of the week while leading Riyad Bank on 815. Freddie Solomon (752), Sonny Alviso (741) and Ric Singson (740) complemented Lechuga’s effort. Captain Zohair Oqilan added 561 while Patrick Alviso had 208.

SHB never had its game going throughout the match. Captain Greg Antonio could not find the right player combination to match up with RB despite having 3-mark advantage. Arnel Bernabe was SHB’s top scorer on 711. Rommel Caluncagin, Val Baraquio and Clem Salazar 551, 509 and 436, while captain Greg Antonio, Jil Hembra and Gerry Ayonon contributed 360, 351 and 311. Cholo Nieto added 168.

In the third reversal of the week, defending champion Shabab SABB blanked Alinma Bank 340-0. Veteran Gerry Austria inspired his team to victory with 814. He was assisted by old timer Mike Shariff (725), captain Ahmed Qarquosh (687), Jaffer Al-Kathiri (642) and Arnold Jesena (625). Luis Bonguit had 181.

The defeat was a fresh blow to Alinma Bank’s title aspirations as it further skidded to fourth position. Captain Jojo de Silva had a tough time matching the level of performance of their mighty opponent. He tallied 677 four-game series while Willie Bondoc, Abdulrahman Ahmed, Angelo Train and Jerry Barce contributed 516, 509, 501 and 495. Vic Agregado rolled 367 in two games while Julius Alfonso and Bobby Ting had 170 and 146.

The match between sister teams BSF and BSF-CBG ended in a 2-2 draw on 192-160 points.

BSF, however, scored higher in the fourth game and earned extra bonus points. The pair of Edwin Timango and captain Jun Bantug inspired their teammates with 737 and 704. AJ Bonifacio rolled 531 while Angel Diaz Jr., Dawood Sereno, Noel Morales and Yusuf Fernandez had 394, 378, 345 and 324 in two games each. Joseph Adao made 138.
