JEDDAH: Racing against time, sponsor team Sarawat Superstores began the tough task of trying to break the top three by clinching Team of the Week honors during the 13th session in the Thursday League 16th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City here.
Sarawat took advantage of the Game 3 meltdown of league leader Murjana to check in with the top tally of 32 points.
Murjana, a cinch for the No. 1spot barring major disaster, settled for second place on 30 points followed by Casadores 25, AL Striker 22 and Habagat 21.
Salam Rice, in the lower half of the team standings and still to taste Team of the Week victory, tallied 18 points at sixth place on the night, while D’ Barkads, Jem Striker and Al Kabeer Frozen Foods filled the last three places on 12, 11 and 9.
Mohd. Al Amri completed a Sarawat double by claiming Bowler of the Week plum, as their team hopes to get momentum in five weeks before the positioning round where Sarawat aims to clinch No. 3.
Murjana and Sarawat finished 1-2 in each of the first two games before what proved the pivotal third game where Sarawat was third for 7 points and Murjana sixth for 4 points. Both teams were again 1-2 for the overall output but it was Sarawat with the upper hand this time.
Amri rolled the high series of 697 on lines of 258, 225 and 202 at the helm of Sarawat onslaught that also featured 600-series contributions of 632 from Jay-R de Dios, 630 from Tash haitam and 610 from Dylan Ilagan. Paul Antiporda with 202-171 and skipper Igna Salgado with 269 rounded out the scoring.
At Murjana the scorers were Pancho Cuevas 677, Mhon Laxamana 659, Jojie Manalansan 652, Nap Patayan 622 and Jay Bengco 619.
Casadores, another team eyeing a top three finish at the end of eliminations, had a pair of 646s from Nezar Al Hamwe and Ruben Grino to go with the 631 by Ding delaRosa, 629 by Tope Sayson, 190-172 by Rey beltran and 209 by Obie Ycasas.
Mohd. Sulaiman was the second-best scorer on 696 while leading the AL Striker. Complementing Sulaiman were Bonnie GarCIA 679, Phepz Niere 572, Gerry Lim 536, Jack Jarin 172-174 and Ally Bin 152.
