Saudi Hollandi Bank finally nailed the coveted Team of the Week award by routing Banque Saudi Fransi during the opening matches of the second round in the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league being played Monday nights at the Universal Bowling Center here.

SHB stopped BSF to accumulate more win points in a 3-1 victory (390-160). The combined efforts of Arnel Bernabe, Rommel Calungcagin, Clem Salazar and Gerry Ayonon, who produced four-game series of 812, 771, 752 and 673, inspired their teammates to victory. Val Baraquio rolled 577 in three games while captain Greg Antonio had 168.

Despite the defeat, BSF managed to edge front-runner Riyad Bank at the No. 1 spot by a mere 2 points in the team standings. Straight bowler Noel Morales led BSF with 741 with Edwin Timango and captain Jun Bantug on 695 and 694 respectively. They were supported by Dawood Sereno, Yusuf Fernandez, Joseph Adao and Angel Diaz Jr. on 384, 375, 373 and 357.

Defending champion Shabab SABB demolished Riyad Bank in three games 340-110. The win points, however, were not enough to get SABB back on top of the leaderboard. Captain Ahmed Qarquosh led SABB to victory with 824. Luis Bonguit 777, last week’s best bowler Arnold Jesena 766, veteran Jaffer Al Kathiri 694 and Gerry Austria 677 were the other scorers.

Riyad Bank fought hard against its mighty opponent during the first three games but could only get 30 bonus points. They won the fourth game with 80 points (947-851 series) to avoid a shutout. Freddie Solomon rolled 766, while the quartet of Mixi Lechuga, Sonny Alviso, captain Zohair Oqilan and Ronald Cruz tallied a 621, 541, 520 and 358. Ric Singson and James Frizzle had 360 and 358.

BSF-CBG overpowered SAMA-Abana in three games 340-160. Guilbert Masias was the second highest scorer of the week on 839. He was assisted by Art Bumatay, Alfred Estrada and Marty Abuloc on 744, 742 and 728, while Dennis Buot and captain Ken Hechanova added 336 and 325.

SAMA-Abana won the first game with a perfect 130 points and earned extra 30 bonus points in the second game. However, they were outplayed during the next 3 games. Captain Teody Zulaybar was the top scorer on 798. Backing up Zulaybar were father-and-son tandem of Bernie 790 and Koko Torres 773 and Jun Macarandan 683. Veteran Clem Guelas and Remy Generales had 360 and 284.

Alinma Bank rebounded with a 3-1 win over SAIB 290-80 with Angel Train spicing it up by claiming Bowler of the Week honors after shooting the high series of 841. Jerry Barce and captain Jojo de Silva tallied 709 and 693 while Abdulrahman Ahmed made 553. Willie Bondoc and Vic Agregado had 353 and 341. Chairman Bobby Ting contributed 168.
