JEDDAH: Picking up where it left off, defending champion Saudi Master Baker-BCT claimed back-to-back Team of the Week honors to keep the lead after the second sesssion in the Thursday League 16th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City here.

The Master Baker-BCT fielding a totally new lineup from the one that won the 15th Season just two weeks back came a point shy of the league’s first perfect score of 36 in clinching the Team of the Week title.

And Archie Santos made it a Saudi Master double when he rolled the high series of 705 to become the Bowler of the Week.

Casadores also made a good account of itself for the second straight week by compiling the second-best tally of 32 points well ahead of 14th Season champion Habagat 24.5

D’ Barkads tallied 23.5 points in fourth place on the night with Al Murjana on 20 points. Salam Rice returned 16 points, while the last three teams to check in were AL Striker 12, Jem Striker 9 and sponsor team Sarawat Superstores 8 points.

League organizer Igna Salgado said Sarawat Superstores, popular among Filipinos, is coming back as league sponsor to coincide with its 36th year anniversary celebration.

Master Baker could have been perfect on the night had Casadores not intervened by winning the second game.

Keeping the faith in a five-man rotation, Master Baker in addition to Santos had Bandar Al Dossary hitting 655, Rommel Agbayani 649, Rally Zamora 635 and Nanding Siasoco 573.

Casadores, on the other hand, used six players led by Nezar Al Hamwe who drilled 681 to go with the 635 by Nawaf Del Monte, 633 by Tope Sayson and 560 by Cesar Sacramed. Benz Espinosa contributed 216-206 and Obie Ycasas 203.

Habagat got big numbers from Med Ramos 663 and Geo Mangaliman 637. Edu Toledo on 587 and Manny Tibay on 577 were the other players to go the distance. Ver Jasa and Rommel Cagampang shared the team’s remaining three games on 180-177 and 189.

Showing the way at D’ Barkads was the duo of Bing Amolo 635 and Leo Edejer 629. They got help from Joel Nidoy 203-223, Rudy Valenzuela 191-171 and Romy Buangan 186-180.

The Murjana pair of Ruel Santoc and Pancho Cuevas joined the session’s 600 scorers on 614 and 602.

The leading scorers at Salam Rice were Daryl Loquais 587 and Ed Butardo 567.
