Sky Freight Fowarders put the lock on No. 1 in style, claiming Team of the Week honors at the end of eliminations during the 19th session in the Qatar Airways-AFTBL 48th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Sky Freight returned the top tally of 40 points. Jeddah Lanes and AFM-Moe, which joined Sky Freight as the outright top three finalists, tied on 24 points.

To join the top trio in the six-team stepladder finals are the three teams with the highest score during the three games with handicap playoff for teams No. 4 to 11.

Taurus, Jeddah 5K and Bank AlJazira were on 34, 32 and 29 points in that order followed by Lipton Chai Latte on 27.

Habagat, MC Hammer, FTBJ-Jem and Idol filled the last four spots on the night with 23, 13, 11 and 7 points.

To Roger Daquiaog of Jeddah 5K went the Bowler of the Week award after he rolled the high series of 701 on scratch lines of 229, 216 and 256.

The consistent Sky Freight of Emy de Guzman had Pancho Cuevas showing the way on 648 followed by Goying Salazar 576, Bonnie Garcia 571 and James Galvan 557. Cris Villavelez and Rene Santiago shared the three games on 221-191 and 225 respectively.

Taurus, six points adrift of Sky Freight in second place, got a lift from the duo of Joel Nidoy and Nap Patayan who drilled 672 and 615. Edwin Ronquillo was the other player to go the distance on 548, while with two games apiece were Julmain Juripac 173-155, Alex Flora 182-169 and Jun de Dios 153-168.

Besides Daquiaog the others in the five-man rotation that contributed to the Jedddah 5K cause were Rod Valero 595, Dylan Ilagan 556, Phepz Niere 555, and Ally Bin 501.

Kalayaan Cup men’s singles champion Randy Mata was at the helm of AlJazira on 609 with Ariel Urquia and Atoi Cruz right behind on 595 and 592. Luis Luna added 547 while Jowet Carion and Francis Guron tallied 144-178 and 169.
